Buffy, it’s very troubling how uncomfortable you are being honest about your romantic past with Riley

sonic-hip-attack:

you clearly avoid the subject from day one, and it’s because you KNOW he will not react well to knowing that you’ve been truly intimate with another person. Sure, Parker he can pass off as a stupid Freshman mistake because you’re just a stupid feeble lady, but knowing you had a soul-ripping passionate bond, one stronger than what you have with him, with another male? There’s no way.

And you can see it on her face. She knows she can’t be honest with him.

When she sits down to tell him a little bit of it, she starts with “You’re not going to like this.”  Who cares what he likes, Buffy? It’s YOUR past. Whether or not he likes it doesn’t change what you’ve been through. If he can’t accept your past, he can’t accept you.

And he reacts exactly as she expects when Xander takes it upon his person to air her secrets.

This is textbook abusive behavior. Making you feel dirty and ashamed for having a past before the abuser entered your life.

J.D. tricks Veronica into killing the jocks by claiming to use “ich luge” bullets, which he claims only pierce the skin. “Ich lüge” is German for “I’m lying.”
